Projecting Freedom Study Guide Debuts for Pesach
The study guide builds upon an artistic and educational project featuring film and video makers’ personal takes on the segments of the Haggadah, the book of liturgy, prayers, songs and rituals that is the narrative basis for the Passover seder.
The initiative, spearheaded by The Skirball Center for Adult Jewish Learning at Temple Emanu-El in New York with support from The Covenant Foundation, convened a group of film and video makers who spent nearly a year studying the Haggadah, interpreting its various parts and giving them cinematic expression.
The individual pieces, which debuted in New York, San Francisco and London a year ago, run a few minutes each, and viewed separately or together, translate the Haggadah into creative and compelling language, meaning and imagery.
The new study guide delves into each part of the Haggadah, examines the video treatment of each, and poses questions for group and classroom discussion.
